Yayasan Konservasi RASI (Conservation Foundation for Rare Aquatic Species of Indonesia) was legally established in 2000 as an Indonesian non-profit, non-governmental organization. YK-RASI is the brainchild of founder and director Budiono and scientific program leader Danielle Kreb and was founded out of deep concern for the survival of the Mahakam River dolphins and other amazing but threatened wildlife in the Mahakam River watershed.
Conducting conservation activities based on biological/ social-economical research in Indonesia to protect endangered, aquatic related species and their freshwater and marine habitat/ ecosystem, thereby protecting natural resources with importance to humankind as well.
